Harin Jeon (b.1998)
South Korean, based in London.

Her paintings emerge from encounters with people and landscapes in London, often beginning with animal figures from childhood memories. These figures respond to their surroundings, registering the emotional shifts that She layers into her work.

Through her experience of living abroad, she experienced a collapse of boundaries—between myself and others, and between the rules that once felt absolute. This dislocation made her question the structures of her identity, realizing the "self" was no longer a stable form. This shift manifests on her canvas as a state of entanglement. Rather than seeking resolved images, her work exists in a continuous undoing and re-forming. The female figure overlaps, dissolves, and re-emerges, held in unstable configurations where boundaries fail and the body remains in flux.

Influenced by her background in textile design, I treat the canvas as a woven surface where forms are pulled into tension. Childhood memories merge with urban landscapes, producing dreamlike, dislocated scenes shaped by longing. In these spaces, bodies and forms drift into one another—mimicking, mirroring, and reshaping themselves—until no clear hierarchy remains.
